imeem - US

Imeem was a very popular social media service where registered users were able to upload and share music and music videos, using streaming tools and playlists. The engineering team behind imeem came mostly from former file-sharing giant Napster. It was the first ever advertising-supported music model for online music. Users were able to freely and legally upload, stream and share music and music playlists, embed songs and video playlists from imeem virtually anywhere in the web. Other features included the imeem mobile, an internet radio product, and three different imeem VIP premium services mostly pertaining to the amount and full streaming of songs permitted to upload per year. As of December 2009, imeem is now part of MySpace with undergoing operations to restore all user-generated content to their full capacity.
